Online Store FAQ
Question from Customer:
Is this a normal hosting account as well?
YourSite.Com Reply:
It is not normal hosting at all. It is an Online Store which includes a dedicated private domain name, Dedicated IP, SSL Certificate, and many integrated features into a custom control panel.
You use this plan to take a retail store online. A customer with HTML and or ClassicASP development skills or contractors can modify the store into their own custom store which is just one of the things that makes us unique. We also have header and footer mods that make it easy for even a non-tech to add nice customizations.
Question from Customer:
Is this an absolute domain, not yoursite.com/mysiteurl.com?
YourSite.Com Reply:
There is a free domain as explained in the top left hand corner of the page at http://www.yoursite.com/CreateOnlineStore/ . It is an "absolute" domain not something shared.
Question from Customer:
Is the SSL a dedicated certificate for my domain, not a shared domain SSL?
YourSite.Com Reply:
It is a dedicated SSL certificate.
Question from Customer:
With this hosting/Cart (yoursite.com) , can I develop, run, and edit my website as I do now? (sounds like no) I guess what I am saying is that I don't see a reason to have a shopping cart without a supporting website to merchandise the product.
YourSite.Com Reply:
Yes! First, without any web page building you can merchandise each product in the product descriptions. This is generally what is done in online stores.
I do see where you are coming from. In your store you might have several pages about a product and then a link or two to the actual product purchase. It is a unique design that makes your store even more suited for our cart than our storebuilder competition because we support the ability to customize your store with development languages like HTML and ClassicASP.
So, for example, you would build your supporting web pages as you do now and then link to the product using natural language links. Your presentation and the store work together and provide an easier link to humans as well as better SEO for your products.
Live example from our demo shopping cart: Cameo Pin
Question from Customer:
Is there a process to request features?
YourSite.Com Reply:
Yes! We love comments and suggestions. We add features quickly that are asked for and customers willing to test those features get them first.
Question from Customer:
No contract?
YourSite.Com Reply:
No contract. Month to month.
Question from Customer:
Disconnect anytime?
YourSite.Com Reply:
Cancel and if not satisfied get a refund. The condition is that after 30-45 days we assume you were satisfied enough so for example we are not going to refund a years worth of hosting.
Question from Customer:
Does your google optimization place the website high or the products/brands in the cart high?
YourSite.Com Reply:
We don't place products. Google and other search engines make their own decsions on positioning. What we do is offer the web site and products to human users in a natural language. For example,
you can tell someone over the phone go to "mysite/diamond earings" and the site responds with diamond earings. It just so happens that search engines appreciate pages that are developed for humans not search engines.
As a result, the search engine will favor that page over a page that uses tricks to fool the search engine. The end result is a web site and product listings that are properly ranked.
We do not cheat or do anything weird. We just do what people should be doing in the first place, not try to screw with the listings.
Question from Customer:
I think I know, but what does a static ip do for you?
YourSite.Com Reply:
A static IP is required for SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). SSL is required for credit card transactions and should be used on any online store to protect the consumer and store. It is unfortunate that our competition does not have the
same respect for security as we do. They offer a cute price and quick setup but have no regard for the real success of the online store (the customer).
Question from Customer:
How does a person add products to the cart?
YourSite.Com Reply:
There is a web browser interface in the control panel. The control panel is not some "c"Panel junk that is sold with other hosting providers. It is entirely customized for our platform and our customers.
Question from Customer:
Can large numbers of products be added easily? This is the downfall of many carts out there - only able to add one product at a time.
YourSite.Com Reply:
Yes. You can download the product database and upload the database. This allows you a basic integration. We can also provide custom solutions for this purpose where real-time integration is possible.
Question from Customer:
What does the normal know nothing customer have to do to post a home page and then link that home page to his cart? (linking the home page to the cart portion)
YourSite.Com Reply:
The homepage is built. A store owner does not build web pages with us unlesss they want to. If they want a custom page they can contact a developer to build them one and go from there.
The point of a storebulder account is to remove the customer from tasks like that.
However, what makes us unique is that while they are removed from that task they can still go in and do it anyway. Flexibilty and growth capability are really our strongest points.
Question from Customer:
Must a customer bring/get a merchant account?
YourSite.Com Reply:
No. We support PayPal. It is no longer a big deal to even mention it. Not sure if we even do. However, I always suggest to store owners to attach their existing merchant account to a credit card gateway like authorize.net or use our gateway if possible. We support the major gateways and we have direct links to Vital and FDMS and Paymentech so they can even cut out the gateway costs if they are savvy enough.
Question from Customer:
Can they do this without a merchant account?
YourSite.Com Reply:
Yes.
Question from Customer:
Can they use PayPal?
YourSite.Com Reply:
Yes.
Question from Customer:
What formats can be hosted? Joomla, drupal, etc. Limitations?
YourSite.Com Reply:
We support the natural web development languages for Windows Server and our platform. We do not warrant any support for any 3rd party systems. The problem is they may rely upon resources that
violate card processing rules (PCI) or they may be in violation themselves. Anything the user runs that violates PCI would risk their merchant account closure by the banks so we highly suggest they do not
run stuff that could interfere with their ability to operate. It is very cheap to setup an application site like a blog web site like blog.yoursite.com for the purposes of running other applications. We even consult on how to do stuff like that so as to not
interfere with the Visa processing rules.
Question from Customer:
Can they use PayPal credit card services?
YourSite.Com Reply:
Specifically, we support PayPal Express Checkout. It is a special service from paypal.
